2009 World Series Last Pitch
So after watching this video I reminded myself why I’m not a Yankees fan, the overly terrible karaoke singing of many New York fans. Dear goodness the man can not sing, but that’s beside the point, the video does give a good fans perspective on the last pitch of the World Series that wins the Yankees the game on a ground out to first. Would I say the series was a “classic”? No, but overall the Phillies put up a good fight. Back to the video though, I love how as soon the game is over, the fan immediately starts panning around to everyone, like as if to say, “hey guys! We won! I’m now going to film pointless things until the award ceremony!” then goes back to filming the field where the players are jumping up and down. Queue “We are the Champions” by Queen, and the whole stadium erupts into singing, including the camera man! We listen to him hit the high notes as if he was Justin Bieber, then we get the holy grail of the film, he shows us his memorabilia cups! Can you believe it, the memorabilia cups that you could easily get off eBay that he’s trying to show off because he has 4 all stacked up together, yes bro, we are totally jealous. Now, put the cups down, so we can see the carts carrying the stage equipment out to the field, no I didn’t say continue showing the cups, but he does so anyway. Yankee fans! Speaking of which, go to the beginning, does that man throw his ball cap!? (Rewinds the video) yes he does! What is he thinking?! He’ll never get that back! This isn’t Hockey! There was no hat trick involved! Someone get that man his cap back, immediately! Also, doesn’t anyone else feel bad for the bull pen? They had to sprint all the way down to the mound to celebrate, as if being in the bull pen wasn’t enough, when we win, were going to make them run down, that’ll show them! If I were in the bull pen, I would have waited by the cart entrance, and just jumped on a cart as they went down, I would have showed them back! I just helped win a title, I’m not running down to celebrate, please, this is America! I think what I love the most about the video though, is how while the guy films in front of him, the black camera ahead, is never taking pictures of the field, instead the guy is constantly looking up at the stands, what’s running through his mind? I would have loved to know, I’ll try my best to recreate this. “Maybe if I take pictures of the people, everyone is going to ask me for my number to say they were there as proof, oh definitely get the girl in red, hello there. Okay look away, and back.” I would say that’s probably a good idea as to what was going on, never enough weird guys out there trying to get a number. Ah I love this country. Well there you have it, the final pitch of the 2009 World Series, and the crazy fans that captured it. Have a good day.
