Chicago Bears season again!

Tailgaters rejoice, It’s Bears season again! For many, that means its time to get out the team flags, break out the brewski’s, and lets get in front of the 72″ Panasonic the wife got you for Father’s Day to watch a Man’s Sport. After a subpar preseason in which the Bears (0-4) seemed to struggle and couldn’t get on the same page Bears fans might have more than a little bit to worry about this season. On offense the Bears enter the 2010 season with an almost identical squad as 2009 that averaged 20.4 PPG, good for 19th out of the 32 nfl teams. Jay Cutler remains the starter at Quarterback as he looks to improve from his subpar first season as the Bears field general. While its too early to count Cutler out as the solution to the quarterback position in Chicago, after throwing 26 INT’s in comparison to 27 TD’s he must prove that he can play efficiently within the system, and consistently link up with starting receivers Devin Hester and Devin Aromashodu. Leading the team in receptions last year TE Greg Olsen and TE Kellen Davis also return to provide Cutler with familiar faces flanking him, which should help reduce the high number of turnovers. In the backfield, speedy Matt Forte looks promising to continue his stellar rising through the ranks of the leagues young backs, looking to raise the bar on a 2009 season where he carried 259 Attempts for 929 yards and 4 TDs all while dealing with numerous injuries through the course of the season. The Bears believe that a healthy Matt Forte could mean the difference between a playoff berth, and another ticket to watch the playoffs from the outside looking in. Never a team to stay settled too long, the Bears also aquired Chester Taylor in the offseason from the Minnesota Vikings, to help boost the depth chart in the backfield. Taylor, a do-it-all back while in his time with Minnesota should find himself sharing the load with Matt Forte at running back, with always solid Fullback Brandon Manumaleuna leading the way. One area the Bears hope is improved for the 2010 season is the Offensive Line, who gave up 35 sacks on Jay Cutler over the course of last season, far too many for any team whose hopes rest with their sights on the playoffs. Defensively, the Bears return with a fierce lineup that many believe will be a force to be reckoned with in the competitive NFC North. With Brian Urlacher gone for most of the 2009 season, the bears found it tough to stop opposing teams without their Defensive Quarterback on the field. The Bears hope that the return of Urlacher should help return to prominence a defense that uncharacteristically allowed 23.4 PPG, 21st in the league. Up front, the Bears defense brings in Julius Peppers from the Carolina Panthers, a physical specimen capable of dominating opposing offensive lineman with his rare combination of strength and quickness. Add Peppers to the already solid front line donning Tommie Harris, Israel Idonje and Anthony Adams, and the Bears have what many believe will be one of the best defensive lines this season. At Linebacker, the return of Brian Urlacher will make an impact because he is a difference maker and game changer. Teams will not have the luxury of not having to look for Urlacher on defense asd they did last year, so his presence alone should free up Outside Linebackers Lance Briggs and Pisa Tinoisamoa to wreak havoc in the backfield. In the Defensive Backfield, the Bears return mainstays, CB Charles Tillman and S Danieal Manning who look to mesh with newcomer Chris Harris, and recent full time starter promotion Zakary Bowman. The Defensive Backfield will be looked at and scrutinized closely after allowing so many long plays last season. It looks to be an interesting campaign for the 2010-2011 Bears team, but Coach Lovie Smith has no doubts that his team is prepared for all that this season will have to offer. Your team is set for a September 12th at 12pm kickoff against the Detroit Lions. Are you ready for some football Bears fans??
