What started as another best-selling Nintendo role-playing puzzle and action franchise has morphed into a great action movie. The Legend of Zelda series is one of Nintendo systems long-term, hottest properties; and the movie integrates many of the video game’s key players (e.g. Link, Princess Zelda and The King of Evil) and develops them into powerful characters.

Much of the video game series revolves around Hyrule, a mythical kingdom overwhelmed with pandemonium and bedlam. Three Golden Goddesses descend from a distant star, Nebula, to bring order to the kingdom. Each Goddess has been endowed with a specific attribute: one with courage, one with wisdom and one with power. They grant equal power to everyone who lived in the kingdom before they returned to their distant star.

The Goddesses departed from the top of the Pyramid Temple; but before they did, they left a golden triangle. This triangle was composed of three smaller triangles that were joined together. Each triangle represented one of the attributes left by the Goddesses: courage, wisdom and power. This was known as the Triforce. Anyone who mastered these three forces in totality, and was able to balance them harmoniously in his or her heart, would be granted everything he wished, for the rest of his life. Anyone with all three forces working in harmony, would have the ability to use the entire power of the Triforce to govern the land of Hyrule. The Golden Land of the Triforce became known as the Sacred Realm.the legend of zelda twilight princess wii version 20060509115847801 640w 258x300 Legend of Zelda Reviews

Nevertheless, the Goddesses were aware that Triforce didn’t have the ability to judge between good and evil. One impure heart could therefore misuse the Triforce and create violent circumstances for the people living peacefully. They appointed The Ancient Sages to seal the gateway to the Sacred Realm and create a sword capable of thwarting the power of even the magical Triforce. The sword, called the Blade of Evil’s Bane, came to be known as The Master Sword. It would serve as the key to the Sacred Realm and the defender against all evil. It was then sealed deeply into the magical Pedestal of Time and the Temple of Time was created around it. The Door of Time secured everything, and could only be broken by someone possessing the Spiritual Stones–three magical jewels that were given to the four major races of Hyrule.

Link has been kept safe—guarded by a secret race; and has been allowed to grow up in a fertile land of fruits and vegetables and freedom to function as he desired. At harvest time his master takes him with him to CastleTown Market to sell his wares, with specific instructions not to speak to anyone and “for goodness sake,” don’t touch anything. But, of course, he does; and thus begins his amazing journey.

A young princess, Zelda, is waiting for him there and Link enters a world beyond anything he could imagine. He is taken to a distant place where there is nothing but evil within its walls. This is a step he must take in order to acquire the courage, wisdom and power he would need to move forward and overcome the evil he has been presented with.

Finally, the enemy prevails and although the Princess attempts to save him, he is consigned to the Temple of Time. It would be seven years before the doors would be opened again to let him out. But during that time he develops each of the attributes–courage, wisdom, and power—necessary to bring peace to the land. At first he has a great struggle to balance the attributes harmoniously in his heart, but he ultimately withdraws the Master Sword, destroys the evil, and once again brings peace to the land. He is then known as The Hero of Time.
