The past two years have been unsuccessful to the Chicago Bears. Seems as though the team has to prove they belong in the nfl. The current Quarterback Jay Cutler could stand to show the league why he was even drafted in the first place, but has yet to do so. Well at least there is a draft. So…Lets paint a picture of the perfect player. 6‘3 in height, 230lbs with all the right moves, passes and of course touchdowns, 23 year old Dan Lefavour landed himself a Quarterback position on the Chicago Bears.
Dan LeFevour was a four-year starter in college, becoming the first player in NCAA history to pass for 12,000 yards and run for 2,500 yards in his career. The Bears definitely got it good with LeFevour. The Bears did not intend to draft a quarterback. To their surprise, the Chicago Bears noticed after 6 rounds and 181 picks, Dan LeFevour was available. Passing him up was definitely NOT an option. Bears area scout Jeff Shiver was not about to lose another 6th round player. “Dan LeFevour is a winner,” “He’s a big kid. He’s won a lot of games. He has passed for a lot of yards. A long time ago, I missed on a quarterback in the sixth round [Tom Brady]. I think he’s still with the Patriots.” Shiver said.
LeFevour has great size, speed, and accuracy for a rookie nfl quarterback. Rated as the 9th best quarterback by ESPN; LeFevour was an outstanding player for The Central Michigan Chippewas. Dan LeFevour became the first Central Michigan quarterback to pass for more than 3,000 yards in a season, which is incredible! He passed the school records of 3,031 yards and 26 touchdowns and led the Central Michigan Chippewas to the MAC championship and a bowl victory, not once but twice. “If you have seen the guy play he has done some pretty incredible things, not only with his arm but with his feet too. He ran a 4.65 at the Combine; [he] was the fastest quarterback there.”The Central Michigan offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Mike Bajakian, who served as offensive quality control coach with the Bears in 2004-06, has nothing but positive things to say about Lefavour.
I would say drafting Dan Lefevour was a steal for the Chicago Bears. He obviously has talent. In the years ahead, I expect nothing but good outcomes for the Chicago Bears with LeFevour on their side. With all his potential, he will be an all-pro quarterback in the nfl, as he continues to advance his skills playing in the league. The Chiacgo Bears have made a decision that could prove beneficial to the upcoming season. While Dan LeFevour will have to adjust to being in the pros, the team will defiantly succeed with him. In a couple years when Jay Cutler steps down, Lefevour will only step in to win, and lead the Chicago Bears to Victory. The Chicago Bears have began to show progress with this pick in particular.
