Los Angeles Dodgers
Los Angeles, California, is where most people not from there consider to be a great vacation destination. With Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Melrose, Universal Studios, Nottsberry Farm, Santa Monica Pier, and Disneyland how could we not agree, right? But the LA that I know and have grown to love is a much different place, and with places like Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, Pinky’s Hotdogs, and the Slauson swap meet, my view of the city is much different. In a nutshell LA is famous for their luxurious shopping, great food, rich citizens, and great sports franchises.
Los Angeles is known for their diversity of citizens and all of their Hollywood movie stars, who often are showed at the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers games. But, to find the real heart of LA there is only one place to go, and that place is Dodger Stadium home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 2009 Dodgers led by ex New York Yankee great manager Joe Torre, the powerful arm of Chad Billingsley, the steady batting of Matt Kemp, and the excitement of Manny Ramirez have caused a lot of talk about this team being compared to some of the great Dodgers of the past.
The Dodgers are one of the most historic franchises in all on professional sports, not just baseball. With fifty-eight Hall of Famers and ten retired numbers, the Dodger franchise has had some of the greatest baseball players ever including: Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, Sandy Koufax, Eric Gagne, Mike Piazza, and Walter Alston. With six World Championships and the fourth most wins all time of any Major League Baseball franchise, it is safe to say that the Dodgers are one the most highly acclaimed teams in the history of baseball.
