If you’re like me than when you think Russell Brand, you think ridiculously outrageous Brit with a unique sense of humor.  But there is also the other side of the spectrum those who find him annoying and repulsive.  Well I would like to say Arthur is neither of the two.

At first when you are watching it seems like Brand’s normal self, no boundaries and the movie did not have me roaring like “Get Him to The Greek” but by the end I tipped my hat to Brand, for a job well done, actually the movie was quite wicked.

Russell Brand plays a rich young man, Arthur Bach, who has not a care in the world.  Typical trust fund baby he has more cars than Bruce Wayne, including the car Bruce drove himself.  Right away we see the shenanigans that Arthur has a knack for getting himself into.  Finally his mother has it with her sole heir and Arthur finds himself in an ultimatum, marry Susan Johnson (Jennifer Garner) or lose the entire lump sum of his inheritance, a number roughly around 950 million dollars and let’s not forget of course his magnetic bed!

Lillian Hobson (Helen Mirron) is Arthur’s nanny.  I don’t know if the casting director made it so that she resembles Alfred from the Batman series but she certainly fits the female version to a T! After Arthur proposes to Susan much against his will he meets Naomi Quinn (Greta Gerwig) and we watch as the movie truly blossoms into an amazing lesson in life, love and above all the power of chance.  Soon I would find moments that left me laughing, as well as ones which would leave me in tears, but above all the movie continued to move along not allowing the audience to dwell in just one emotion.

I know it did not get the best reviews however if you go into it the same way I did, without any preconceived notions than trust me, Russell Brand and his portrayal of Arthur shall not disappoint.
