Hiring a script doctor

Among the open secrets of the film industry is hiring a physician script. A physician script is a highly respected writer who is hired to make some improvements to a screenplay or TV script. The writer is usually not credited for their contribution the film. Following the rules of the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the writers' union in the entertainment industry, a screenwriter who contribute more than fifty percent of the story or characters in order to qualify for the credit. Getting credit in a project means that the writer publicly attributed the script more capable of winning awards like the Oscars.

Very often, the consultant is on board film for the purpose of improving the dialogue continuity script, or character development. One of the earliest known cases of this type of consulting film was the work of Robert Towne in The Godfather. Although the public credit for the script went to Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola Director, Towne wrote one of the most important scenes of the film. This was the scene in the courtyard with the dialogue between Al Pacino (Michael Corleone) and Marlon Brando (Vito Corleone). The scene serves two key purposes – both the exposure (of the plot) and characterization. From the point Technically, it is difficult accompish, since there is no scene like in the novel as a reference.

Another well known example of the use of a consultant script in the movie Crimson Tide starring Denzel Washington. Writer and director Quentin Tarantino was hired to do the best dialogue in some scenes film. Their script is quite obvious additions for any fan – the means of dialogue Tarantino discuss pop culture references including Star Trek and film Duel in the Atlantic. Tarantino was also a murderer hired for the action film The Rock.

This practice is often used, but less than physician script is a well-known writer, it is impossible to know who has a polished script. Usually, the consultant does for a fee and not publicly acknowledged.

Another well-known practice is to use as science or law. A popular and durable series, like House or ER may have an ongoing relationship with a doctor to fix script for each episode. Other projects may need only a few lines of dialogue to be adjusted.
