So what is the ‘surprise’ at the end of Law Abiding Citizen?

I’m curious to know the explanation or surprise was at the end of the movie.
I have not intention of seeing it, but a review in Rolling Stone interested me. The reviewer said it was so ridiculous that if he wrote it, people would say he’s making it up.
Of course, I know they exaggerate a lot in the magazine. So, I just want to know what this could be so I can judge whether it’s actually that ridiculous. I read in the review that Butler’s character is a scientist or something so many he invented a time machine… LOL!
