Appropriate movie for 8 year old birthday party (girls)?

My daughter wants to celebrate her 8th birthday with a movie night at home. The guests are all 8 year old girls. We are now trying to find a perfect movie: all the obvious ones are out because they might have seen them already or they are to long. We ruled out Harry Potter, ET, Cinderella, High School Musical, Jump, Home Alone, Bratz, Shrek, Robbin Hood, Ghost Busters, Never ending Story, Narnia, Terabithia, the 10th Kingdom, all cartoons, Sea horse , Mean girls, the Parent trap etc. We saw “The Thief Lord” at Blockbusters and it looked very good. The reviews are all very positive and it does not seem much advertised although it came out 2 years ago, so maybe they might not have seen it. My daughter also wants a mystery, scary theme and and not so much a “girl” movie. Should not be longer than 90 minutes. Thanks for all input.

Id go with Signs, I think they would enjoy it. Especially the scene with the birthday party in it.
