Unlimited 2011 Review

In theory, no limits is a film about what would happen if you took a pill that made him smarter, but think of the smartest people I ever met. In my experience true genius comes at the expense of things like fashion sense and charisma. When someone says the word genius, his face uncombed, rumpled Albert Einstein probably comes to mind. Neil Burger film, however, has something else in mind. In this imagined version intelligence, if only Albert Einstein had been smarter he would have done something about unruly mustache. In the world of true genius is unlimited and the Fonz, leather jackets, riding motorcycles, and get what they want in life simply because they are colder than others.

That's what happens to Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) when she takes a mysterious experimental drug called NZT. It is supposed to get smarter, and does, but more importantly, suddenly this sloppy writer, struggling develops an affinity for tailored suits, an obsession with cleanliness, and a talent for the acquisition fast sports car that he uses to pick up beautiful women. NZT also allows you to instantly understand and use complex mathematical or learn any language is almost a footnote in this story of how being smart can be cooler than others. Think of this film anti-social Network. In this David Fincher film tells the story of how the genius and ambition often leaves people isolated in the world, out of step with society and alone. If Neil Berger had the social network that would not start with Mark Zuckerberg being dumped by his girlfriend for being alien to their feelings, but being beaten by super models, because it is so smart he knows how to dress better than everyone around him.

So enjoy unlimited requires a certain suspension of disbelief, but perhaps he knew that the film in trailers make it clear that this story is based on the idea that we only use 20% of our brain, a rumor circulated frequently no more basis in scientific fact that the notion of the Jurassic Park dinosaur DNA extraction from insects enclosed in amber. But then the raptors Jurassic Park did not hatch from their eggs sports from five to one hundred-dollar haircuts. Somehow that made them more believable. This is not a movie for anyone who has read "Flowers for Algernon."

The thing is, really waste Unlimited premise above all ignoring all consequences of being attacked from a little above the average four-digit IQ. The intelligence is a final grade. Instead, it's kind of a drug movie standard. Bradley Cooper has character, everybody loves them, and he has to find a way out of this situation. He does not think his way out of it exactly he did not really bother to think about how to solve their problems at all. Like all intelligent people who just sort of goes with it (sarcasm noted). Best the smartest man in the world can get on with is to hire a few bodyguards. Professor Moriarty is not this kind, although he seems to know how to fight like Robert Downey Jr. 's Sherlock Holmes.

Unlimited spends almost no time to really delve into the massively elevated CI Bradley Cooper, however, makes use of its capacity greater intellectual as an excuse to engage in a kind of deception kinetic visual. Burger film has an eye to bright colors and strange distortion effects to do more to maintain interest in what is happening in this story is nothing.

Not that there's a great story. Too much of the film is reduced to a series of disconnected viginettes not really make any sense if Bradley Cooper was not there to tell literally every second of the movie. I am a big fan of the voice-over, if you're doing black movies, but this is not Doom, it's a movie of drugs. It's a movie without a history of drug thoughtful so having cheats Bradley Cooper explains everything as you go.

Despite all this, somehow I do not hate my time with Unlimited. Bradley Cooper leader remains a fascinating man. That is easy to see, but let's face it, is quite playing Bradley Cooper. Much credit for the way throwaway watchable this film is likely to have to go to Burger, which makes the scenes feel like they are disconnected filled with a kind of raw energy, much like connections neurons in the brain pepped in smart pills. No limits is not smart, but it's stylish looks, and maybe that's enough to make your vacuum out of it. It's like seeing The Fonz get free songs for punching a jukebox, and never stops being fun.
