Predator movie
Predators is the Fifth installment in the Predator Sci-fi action movie franchise. This movie will not disappoint the die hard, but will not impress the first time watcher. Predators could be looked at as an incredibly well produced, piece of fan fiction with a highly award nominated cast, including Academy Award for Best Actor winner, Adrien Brody (The Pianist) and Oscar nominated Laurence Fishburne. This movie really lacked originality on any level, but it does still fulfill all the action junky requirements for an immediately gratifying, blood pumping suspenseful entertaining movie.
For the uninitiated, Predator is one of the most successful sci-fi action franchises of all time. It all started with a 1987 movie starring, who else, Future California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and future Minnesota Governor, Jesse “The Body” Ventura, who played members of a “Special Ops” team on a mission deep in the jungle. As members of their team went missing, or were found mutilated, it became evident that that they were being hunted by someone, or something. This thing, as it turns out was what would become one of the greatest Sci-Fi action stars of the next 20+ years, and is affectionately referred to as “The Predator”.
This, the fifth addition to the Predator movie collection will not disappoint the die hard, and will not confuse the first time watcher. There is really no real continuation between this, and any other Predator movies, other than the continued presence of the Alien race to who we refer to as Predators. The only “Twist” to the newest addition to the series is the addition of multiple “Predators” hunting the humans. One of the trademark differences between the Predator movies, and other similar movies of the same genre has been the presence of just one hunter, as opposed to the massive hordes of monsters in the “Alien” series. This film is a departure from that theme, as they have brought a mass force of undetermined numbers to attack the humans this time around.
Without giving away too much, this movie puts it’s protagonists into a jungle wasteland, seemingly abandoned as an offering to the Predator species for the purpose of trophy hunting. From here, expect a similar predictable storyline much like the others in the series.

The special effects do live up to all that you would expect from a good sci-fi action adventure movie, and the costume work, as with all the predator movies, is second to none in it’s crab-faced, body armored, dread locked, green acid blood-soaked glory. That along side enough explosions, blood, and creative killing technique to make this everything that someone looking for that special something reminiscent of the big budget Arnold Schwarzenegger movies of the 80s and 90s could hope for.
All in all, for the true sci-fi action fans out there… If you miss the original Predator…If you feel like the Alien vs Predator movies were too gimmicky…If you want the muddy, low visibility jungle setting back… if you miss feeling like you are being stalked with the victims of the Predator… If you want to go back to the jungle stalking, human hunting “Most Dangerous Game” type of action movie that the first Predator provided, and has yet to be replicated… then this might just be tailor made for you! If not, there may be better options for your movie going dollars to be spent on
