Looking for a camcorder compatible with window xp?

I am looking for a “cheap” (max $300) and easy to use camcorder that can also take pictures. I found the JVC Everio GZ-MS100. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ELJBOA?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=yahoo-ce-20&linkCode=asn

It seems that it does all that. However, there was a review on Amazon of someone saying that the video files the camera produces are .mod files and that these files are not read by XP Windows movie Maker http://www.amazon.com/review/R6QE9WCW402EE/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R6QE9WCW402EE

Does anyone have that experience? If so, which one is the camcorder compatible with Window XP and easy to use and use SD cards?
