Yankee Review
Well lets start at the very beginning, the video is set in the bleachers, where, in all honesty most of the die hard fans are. These are the people that pay and actually care about and love their Yankees. They are not there in company seats, or just because they can afford it, or they just have nothing better to do. They are the best seats in the house if you want a real fan experience. The “bleacher creatures” as you may know them as, are watching without a doubt the greatest closer ever (Mariano Rivera) about to finish the hated phillies in the World Series. Moment by moment they watch, as the pitch is delivered, the ball is hit, the play shifts to the first base side, the fans urge them to get the out, the throw, it all unfolds and you can hear the unmistakable roar of the bronx faithful get louder and louder then….flashbulbs galore and an eruption of joy! The camera shakes but maintains long enough to see Derek Jeter explode with the trademark leap at shortstop, what looks to be the man filming gives us a close up of his expression. It’s party time in NY! True madness as only this city can deliver, and it’s up close and personal with the fans. As Queen “We are the champions” begins to blare you can no doubt hear the phrase, the Yankees win, the Yankees win! I was expecting to hear the last and signiture THHHHHHHE Yankees WIN but no go. Food flys in the air around the 25 second mark and a pan around of the stadium in all of its chaos follows. Amidst the coldness everybody celebrates what they came and expected to see. Players rush the mound, security heads to their spots, other production and league officials begin to get their equipment ready to present the yanks with their 27th symbol of greatness. The sky is littered with flashes of people capturing their memories forever, the crowd sings together as champions, and we see the couple of signiture cups this fan enjoyed (im willing to bet they are beer cups) marking the World Series event. The beginning of a long night and lots of days of celebrating in NY. This is the only way to celebrate, with the fans, the real and diehard ones, as only they can give you raw and uncut. Nothing like winning in New York…says it all.
