Yankees Gary

Did the Yankees do the right thing by trading Gary Sheffield and Bubba Crosby?
i forget what team crosby went to.
When the Yankees got Abreu, that told Sheffield they did not want him anymore. And it was obvious Sheffield was not too happy about it, so it was better to part with him, and they basically gave him a choice as to where to end up.
It was a smart move picking up his option to trade him because it prevented anyone in the AL East (Red Sox) from signing him as a free agent, and they got 3 pitching prospects in return. The Yankees do not care about the money cost, the player cost they do.
It stopped an opponent from getting better, and they got some pithcing prospects (Yankees don’t have many – prospects get traded away from the Yankees recently 4 to the phillies for Abreu and Lidle)
Bubba Crosby is not and should not be in the Yankees long term plans, at the moment, they have better, younger players to fill the role as backup, Crosby will never start in NY. It is better for the Yankees, and for Crosby that he get traded.
These were two good moves by the Yankees, that benefited both the team and the players involved, which is always good to see.
