Zelda in Review

In recent years movies have gone away from having an original story backed up by a creative and addictive story line…aw, those were the days.  There are few of them still out there, like Gran Torino, , Heat, Devils Advocate, Crash etc… but all too many writers are now turning to comics, oh wait, and now video games.  Are the majority of writers out there having creative writers block?  Albeit it was a very well thought out idea when the first movies of comics came out, like the original batman and the original spiderman. But then, everyone jumped on the bandwagon with the hulk and sequel, Iron Man and sequel, the punisher, and so on. zelda5 300x221 Zelda in Review That just wasn’t enough, now we have writers going after games such as this lovely edition of Zelda.  I can remember playing this game when I was 10, on my 25 in.  non-HD TV with the simplistic controller of all of 2 buttons jumping up and down trying to avoid the arrows slowly approaching my head.  And that’s where this game should have stayed, on the tv screen inside my old school Nintendo box.  It would seem that writers out there are just writing for a paycheck and putting out there anything and everything to get picked up.  Every day I see at least 2-3 trailers or commercials for movies that have no real substance as if they were being written for a certain genre of people ie… (big companies hire writers to come up with b.s. just to make money).  Movies are entertainment, and I want to be entertained, not insulted.  I want to be inspired and have some type of valuable lesson that maybe I can put into action in my own life.  I do have to admit though, every once in a while a good sci-fi or straight fictional movie helps with the grind of daily life so I can soar in the clouds away from all my troubles.  But, this type of brainless, repetitive, so called story will never make it to any theater except maybe the one that’s being remodeled on the corner of hopeless and crap.  The artistic value left that movie way before it was even conceived and it might be better off as a book with a different title such as Fairies in the Mist and leave the integrity of an American classic video game that those who played in the late 80’s love so much.  If there was ever a chance that this movie had the potential to take off, a few things are needed.  1) At least 1 well known young actor/actress, maybe an ex Disney channel star, 2) money for CGI, lots of money, 3) and most important, a story that can follow the game but with some twists to keep you interested and not wanting to leave halfway through because you just remember you have to make your lunch for the next day.  Put all these together and you might, just might have a film that grosses more than a100 bucks.
